Artist Nilou Rahimi’s expressions in pastel and oil speak of the artistic approach to the role of emotion in life. Nilou uses the pastel medium to obtain color saturation while retaining layered opacity. She uses the intensity of color and texture of oils to bring added dimension to her “interpretations of life.” With each medium, she fully shows the depth of each emotion expressed, making the viewing of her art a visually and emotionally satisfying experience.

Nilou was born in Iran, where she began painting in childhood. She migrated to Europe, then to the Bay Area, integrating the various cultural and environmental influences into her paintings. She also translates her work as an esthetician and Nilou Day Spa owner into her art through her love and compassion for people, and the energy she gets from interactions with others. This understanding of people and humanity translate into vibrant portraits, which Nilou also creates by commission.
